Toronto Named A Hardest Working City In North America

After an exhaustive review of approximately 400 metropolitan areas in Canada and the U.S., Toronto received the most recent Freightliner Trucks Hardest Working City award for having one of the largest construction, manufacturing, and transportation workforces in North America.

“As the fourth largest city in North America and a workforce leader, it’s no surprise Toronto is home to where hard work happens,” said Jeffrey Gardiner, vocational sales manager for Freightliner Trucks of Canada. “This year alone, Toronto is planning to invest more than $550 million on construction projects to help keep essential infrastructure in top condition, telling us this city not only works hard, but works smart.”

As part of the Toronto celebration, Freightliner Trucks hosted an award presentation recently at Harper Truck Centres’ Mississauga location with workers, truck equipment manufacturers, and community leaders.

Freightliner Trucks said it created Hardest Working Cities because it found a correlation between cities with high productivity and markets with the strongest vocational truck sales, recognizing the vital role severe duty and medium duty trucks, and those who operate them, play in stimulating economies.

“There is an undeniable relationship between thriving cities and smart investments made in construction, manufacturing, and transportation that help create stronger communities,” said Mary Aufdemberg, director of product marketing for Freightliner Trucks. “It’s important to us to acknowledge and thank cities such as Toronto that use our products to encourage determination, innovation, and job creation.”
